For this song, I wanted to convey just how awful the world feels right now for a lot--nah, MOST--of people.

Stylistically, I was going for a compromise between two ideas: the minimalist rap of something like Whitey On The Moon by Gil Scott-Heron, and the sample/synth-heavy rap of... well, a lot of periods, but mostly everything up to the early 2000s.

On top of that, I wanted to try making an entire song only out of samples from a single other song: Space Lion by The Seatbelts (which is © 1998 The Seatbelts, Yoko Kanno, and/or Victor Entertainment).

Accident-induced bills and painful tooth surgery

Despite growing up poor from at least age three
I barely had enough resources to stand tall like a tree

If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so
